If you are trying to connect several of those functions, a narrow tool will frustrate you quickly.

Tags have to be bought and attached, readers have to be placed where the work happens, staff have to be trained on scanning discipline, and someone has to notice when a reader stops working. Those costs do not appear on a feature list. If your ambiguity problem is a missing timestamp rather than a missing scan, a browser based record may close the gap for less.
